The ear is a vital part of any musician’s palate however the development of it is often overlooked by young instrumentalists and vocalists alike.
This class is designed to elevate each participant’s level of musicianship by developing their ear through singing. This will be accomplished through ensemble singing and Ear Training. The best time for students to train their ear is right now! Why is ear training so important? It develops greater musicality and confidence. Ear training helps students become better sight readers. Ear Training is essential in learning how to identify intervals, chords, rhythms, and other basic elements of music.
Singing plays an important part in Ear Training. And why not: Singing is perhaps the most natural form of musical expression and for good reason, It’s fun! I invite you to come and develop your voice during this 12 week ensemble. All types of music will be well represented (Pop, A Cappella, Jazz, Classical) as we develop better musicianship through ensemble singing. Additional emphasis will be placed on Sight Singing (the ability to hear/sing music without the aid of an instrument). This is a great opportunity for you to learn to sing well and in harmony with musicians from the greater Midcoast area.
